Sally McCann (Carr), 64, wife of Robert “Bob” McCann of West Salem passed away Saturday, Nov. 4, 2017, at Mulders Health Care Facility.
Sally was born Nov. 5, 1952, in La Crosse, to Allan and Faye Carr. She graduated from Logan High School in 1970 and attended WWTC, before going to work in the family business, Joe Harter & Son Landscaping, eventually running the business until her retirement in 2014.
Sally’s love of horses began at a young age and continued her entire life. Riding, training, and caring for horses was her passion and she shared her knowledge and skills readily with all. She served as president of the WWHSA, was a leader for the 4-H Horse Project, was a member of the WHPA, and served on the Ag Society Board. She was a mentor to countless young people who wanted to learn to care for and enjoy horses as she did.
Vacations and road trips were a special time for Sally to enjoy time with family and friends. From the majestic mountains of the West, to the fjords of Alaska, and the amusement parks of Florida, she enjoyed traveling the country and experiencing the people and places contained within. Sally was an adventurer who jumped headfirst into life, whether it was racing cars on horseback along the highway, riding the fastest and highest roller coasters, backpacking on horse in the wilderness, or driving a pair of Belgium draft horses in a pulling contest. If there was a challenge, she wanted to conquer it.
Sally was a fervent fan and stock-holder of the Green Bay Packers and cheered them on through good and bad seasons. She loved watching her grandson perform in school band and choir programs and enjoyed watching the Oktoberfest Parade with her crew. She shot pool with the best, sang karaoke until the wee hours of the morning, and enjoyed hunting deer each fall. Her life was filled with joy and vigor and she lived it to the fullest.
Sally is survived by her husband, Bob McCann of West Salem; daughters, Kristina “Niki” (Bradley) Furlano of Onalaska, and Robin (Luke) Watson of Waverly, Iowa; mother, Faye Harter of La Crosse; brother, Daniel (Patricia) Carr of West Salem; grandson, Ethan Furlano of Onalaska; and many loved nieces, nephews, cousins, close friends, and extended family members.
She was preceded in death by her stepfather, Joseph Harter; father, Allan Carr; and her grandparents, Dorothy Severson, Kjartan Turmo and Allan (Ruth) Carr.
